Increasing Demand for Disinfecting Wipes Is Expected To Boost the Household Wipes Market Growth

Household wipes are used to clean, polish, and disinfect various surfaces in a house. They can be used to clean appliances, glass, window surfaces, kitchen counters, tiles, furniture, wood surfaces, metal surfaces, etc. Wipes can be of two types, such as antibacterial wipes and non-antibacterial wipes. They help keep the house neat and clean, as well as lower the risk of illness. Household wipes are available in both wet and dry forms. Two types of fabric are used to make household wipes such as woven and nonwoven. Nonwoven wipes can be easily disposed of after a single-use, while woven wipes can be reused.

Increasing demand for disinfecting wipes due to their hygiene providing nature is expected to drive the growth of the household wipes market. Disinfecting wipes contain antimicrobial agents such as quaternary ammonium compounds or phenols, sodium hypochlorite, pine oil, which kills bacteria and viruses on surfaces. For instance, in March 2020, the United States Environmental Protection Agency expanded the disinfectant list that is effective on COVID-19.

Some governments are running a TV campaign to educate people about the importance of disinfecting products such as disinfecting wipes to control the COVID-19 outbreak. Thus, increasing awareness/demand for disinfectant wipes in household applications, as well as the growing awareness among people about hygiene and cleanliness, is expected to propel the market growth. However, lack of hygiene awareness in few countries such as Sri Lanka, Syria, Ghana, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Qatar is expected to hamper the market growth. Diarrheal diseases account for around 1.6 to 2.5 million deaths (a result of unhygienic conditions) every year, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
